Education, Culture and Technology Define the Second Day of UNESCO’s General Conference in Samarkand

On the second day of the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, delegates turned from opening speeches to pressing global issues — from the ethics of artificial intelligence and access to higher education in crisis zones to the skills needed in a rapidly changing world. Uzbekistan emerged as a growing hub for international educational cooperation, while discussions reaffirmed UNESCO’s role as one of the few spaces where education, culture, and science remain shared public goods rather than commodities.
